22 years old | He / They
Indigo is one of my oldest characters, my most popular character, and my persona online. He was created in 2020 when I was still in high school, with the intention of being a new and definitive "fursona" for myself*. Initially I wanted him to be a fox, since late 2016, but besides no real resonance with the animal of choice, I found it generic when you consider the fox's popularity amongst furries*.
When originally designing him, I pulled cues from my current interests, one of which being from the Dreamworks film series "Kung Fu Panda". His first and second iterations heavily pulled from the villian "Su Wu", because I just enjoyed the sinister yet reserved demeanor of the character and wanted to reflect it on Indigo.
Couple years later he would undergo a lot more changes, notably 4 major updates to his design, as I started to pick up not only more experience as an artist but also more inspirations as my interests became more and more refined. In 2023 he adopted a more "Furry-ish" look.. and honestly I can't exactly clock what I was thinking with that iteration. It did NOT last long.
Late 2023 I picked up an interest that would end up majorly defining not just Indigo, but my art style as I know it today. I picked up a webcomic by Eric W. Schwartz called "Sabrina Online", I became absolutely obsessed with the look. I started to study the webcomic and by extension Eric's works, and discovered one of his characters, Darke Katt. My first impression of the character single-handedly drove me to finally pick back up Indigo's design and make a new iteration. Gave him a more accurate body type to my own, MASSIVELY improved his color choices (Hell I made him actually indigo!) Gave him glowing yellow eyes with slits for pupils, replicated my own hair style. The rest is history from there, the design stuck until I made the final iteration in mid to late 2024.
*Which ironically, I see the art I make and myself as less of a furry and more of a cartoonist that just enjoys "funny talking animals". I've had people make the arguement that I delve into sexual themes with my works, and that makes me a furry for it. But really, sexual themes can be found in a lot of different forms of art, I don't gloat the sexual side of it as it's not my number one priority. I find beauty in the human (and human-adjacent) form.
